IS THERE A FEE TO BELONG TO PAGLA?

There is a SET FEE per club that is updated yearly. This is based on number of teams within EACH REGION of PAGLA and number of teams that club is registering.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T PAY MY PAGLA REGISTRATION FEE?

Clubs must PAY THEIR DUES NO LATER THAN 30 DAYS after the season has concluded. If dues are not paid, the club that will not be allowed to register for the following season.

WHAT DOES OUR CLUB RECEIVE FOR BECOMING A MEMBER OF PAGLA?

PAGLA’s has taken a lot of steps to increase the programs and services that you receive for your membership dues.  In addition to our website – which will be used for communication, central scheduling (each region will continue to schedule but will be able to use the League Athletic Website for team scheduling and officials scheduling), FIELD LOCATIONS and DIRECTIONS, timely and pertinent news on PAGLA events, PAGLA PLAY DAY OFFICIAL SITE with online registration….the Board helps with costs of Youth Official/Referee Training for member clubs, coaches training at no cost to member clubs, scholarship opportunities and many other worthwhile programs.  In fact, we welcome new suggestions – a link to submit your suggestions can be found on the home page.  More programs and/or services will continue to be added.

WHO CAN JOIN?

PAGLA members are TOWNSHIP RECREATION PROGRAM CLUBS/TEAMS located in Philadelphia area in Pennsylvania.  It is not a league for school teams or travel teams that may or may not hold tryouts for players from all-over (ie Envy, Phantastixs, Ultimate…).   All new clubs must be approved by PAGLA’s board of directors.   Each township may only have one club representing them.

ARE THERE BOUNDARY RULES FOR EACH MEMBER CLUB OF PAGLA AS TO WHERE THEIR PLAYERS COME FROM?

Yes.  Players whose residence lies within the general school district or township boundaries of the local Lacrosse Club should play for that organization. Recruiting of players from other districts, townships or clubs is prohibited. Players wishing to transfer to another club must receive permission from the PAGLA board before completing the transfer. 

ARE THERE DUES OR COSTS WITH BECOMING A MEMBER?

Yes, to be a member of PAGLA, there is an annual fee due to PAGLA at the annual meeting.  The dues are $50 per Club.  These dues are subject to change each year as PAGLA begins to provide its’ member clubs with more resources and programs.

CAN THE DUES BE WAIVED FOR FINANCIAL REASONS?

Yes, the Board of Directors of PAGLA understands that some clubs do not have the financial resources to pay their annual dues whether it is because it is a start-up club or one that is undergoing financial hardships.  Please contact the President or Treasurer to discuss this matter.  This information will be kept confidential.

HOW ARE THE CLUBS PUT INTO REGIONS?

The Executive Board of Directors determines the regions based on member clubs preferences on what location/teams they want to play with.  The Board will make the final decision for the regions based on these preferences, as well as take into consideration location, travel, strength of region, number of clubs in each region, etc…

HOW ARE THE TEAMS PLACED IN THEIR DIVISIONS?

Players in PAGLA must be placed according to their grade level.  PAGLA recognizes that each member club has their own By-Laws, Board of Directors and registration process.  Regardless of how your club handles this, when “registering” your teams with PAGLA, you will need to place your teams in the following divisions:

7/8th Grade Teams & 5/6th Grade Teams 

These two age groups have 2 levels – An “A” and “B” level based on the overall skill level of the team both individually and as a team.

SKILL LEVEL “A”
 – Highly Competitive

 – PAGLA Lacrosse must be the priority sport for the player during lacrosse season.

 – Girls must be able to commit to the practices and games

 – Most girls are able to play with both their dominant and non-dominant hands.

– If you have 2 “A” level teams both teams should be split equally
 
SKILL LEVEL “B”
 – Competitive but still developing skills.

 – Most Girls are just beginning to use both hands while playing. 

 – Some of these players have tried lacrosse for the first time this season, especially at the 5/6 level.

 
3rd & 4th Grade Teams
 – Evenly divided teams

 – No Leveling based on skill or ability

 – Smaller field play 7 v 7

***PAGLA Teams CANNOT schedule with non-PAGLA Pennsylvania teams during the spring lacrosse season.
